As navigator of Delta Lloyd I can assure you, few adventures compare to sailing the Volvo Ocean Race. My experience in the Volvo Ocean Race 2008-9 was an incredible experience; A epic adventure surrounded by amazing people. It is addictive. With out a doubt, I'll be back in the Volvo Ocean Race come 2011-12; but in the mean time I'll still be guided by doing what I love to do; navigating, racing to win, and blogging about my adventures.

sad to hear. enjoyed your posts. what happened?
I'll try to keep my post tactful when I really have a lot I'd love to say! Your interview was very professional and we are all very proud of what you've accomplished out there. Sometimes God changes things in our life to open up a new door and new opportunities. I have no doubt the door that is about to open for you in the sailing world will be HUGE!
YOU WERE AN AMAZING VOICE FOR DELTA LLOYD, YOU WERE THE DRAW FOR THE MEDIA AND BROUGHT THE RACE TO LIFE FOR SAILORS AND NON-SAILORS ALIKE! It will quickly become apparent to "them" just how much YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!!
I have to second that! I have a "boat load" of data that shows YOU had a following and still do as my Key West piece is in a hard fought battle to stay ahead of the short profile piece I did! The Delta Lloyd piece...bottom of the barrel and though you say it well...there are some good people on that boat...well...I'll leave it at that! See you in 2012!
I also agree. You put the reader on the boat and wanted them to follow the Vovo Race. Every Blog you published put the Delta Lloyd brand out there, front and center. Delta Lloyd, the company, will miss the PR you generated with each and every Blog; and Delta Lloyd, the team, will realize what they had and could not keep.
So now the voice of the team is going to be Chuny! Wonderful, who the heck can understand him?!?!?! haha. I just listened to his latest interview and if I understood him, I think he said his goal for this leg is to "make it to China." What kind of athlete mentality is that?!?!
I mean that might be the goal, but HELLO! who says that to the media. Did he forget he is the skipper of the Volvo Ocean RACE!
It's obvious the tone of the interviews has changed, and the drive and determination that you brought to this team is dwindling. That's just too bad. Delta Lloyd deserves more from their sponsorship dollars than that. =(
But in 2012 I am sure you will get a team of real athletes together that even in the toughest of times will never accept anything less of themselves then perfection, and always keep their sights set on winning...because that is what being an athlete is all about!
Cheers.
